Overview

The NGRAVE Zero markets itself as the most security-certified hardware wallet on the market, and it has the certification to back the claim: its secure element and operating system have been evaluated to EAL7, the highest level in the Common Criteria security standard, a rarity in consumer devices. Combined with a fully air-gapped design — QR codes only, no USB data, no Bluetooth, no WiFi — a fingerprint sensor, and a large touchscreen, it targets high-net-worth holders who want maximum assurance.

Beyond certification, NGRAVE emphasizes its key-generation process: the device creates your seed using its own entropy sources (including light via the camera) so the initial key never depends on a predictable source, and it never touches an internet-connected machine. It pairs with a companion app and a separate steel backup product for the physical seed backup.

The honest caveats: NGRAVE is only partially open-source, so despite the certifications you can't fully audit everything, and some Bitcoiners weigh open-source verifiability above formal certification. It's also expensive and, like all premium wallets, no certification makes it immune to user error. And EAL7 certification of components doesn't guarantee the whole system is flawless. For high-value holders who value formal certification and full air-gap, the Zero is a top-tier choice; those who prioritize fully open code may prefer a Coldcard or Foundation Passport.
