The punch-to-encode method is durable and idiot-resistant: a punched dimple can't smudge, fade or be rearranged, and the solid plate carries the same fire and water resistance as pricier competitors. The trade-off is that punching is permanent, so a mistake means a wasted plate, and reading the backup later means cross-referencing your dot pattern against the printed grid — slower than a plate that spells words out in plain letters.

What do I need to use it?
A centre punch (and ideally a hammer). Some bundles include one; otherwise any hardware-store automatic centre punch works.
Is the marking really permanent?
Yes — that's the point. Punched dimples can't be erased or rearranged, but it also means a mis-punch can't be undone, so double-check before you strike.
How do I read my seed back?
You match the punched positions against the BIP39 grid etched on the plate to recover each word's letters. It's more effort to read than a plate that spells words out.
Why buy the two-pack?
