NerdQaxe++

Overview

The NerdQaxe++ is a quad-chip open-source solo miner that offers meaningfully more hashrate than a Bitaxe in a single desktop unit. Using four ASIC chips, it produces roughly 4.8-6 TH/s while drawing around 72-103 watts, and it typically ships in a tidy desktop stand with a display. For home solo-miners who want more hash than a Bitaxe can provide but still want a quiet, open-source, single-box device, the NerdQaxe++ is a natural step up.

Like the Bitaxe family it descends from, it's community-driven and open-source, running firmware derived from the same lineage with a good web interface for monitoring hashrate, temperatures, and pool stats. More chips mean more heat, so it uses a more substantial cooling setup than a Bitaxe, but it's engineered to stay reasonably quiet for home use.

The honest economics are unchanged by the extra hashrate. Four to six terahashes is still a vanishingly small slice of a network measured in hundreds of exahashes per second, so the NerdQaxe++ remains a lottery ticket and hobby device, not an investment — it just gives you a somewhat larger (but still tiny) share of the lottery for more power and cost. If you want more hash than a Bitaxe in one quiet, open-source unit and you understand the odds, it's an excellent choice; if you want maximum efficiency per dollar for the lottery experience, a single Bitaxe Gamma is cheaper.
