NerdOctaxe Gamma

Overview

The NerdOctaxe Gamma is the highest-hashrate device in the open-source Nerd miner line, packing eight ASIC chips to produce roughly 9-12 TH/s in a single home unit. It's the step up for solo-miners who want the most open-source hash they can get in one box — more than a Bitaxe, more than the quad-chip NerdQaxe++ — while keeping the community-driven, open-source ethos of the ecosystem.

Using eight chips (in the BM1370 'Gamma' generation), it delivers serious hashrate for a home device and runs open-source firmware with a web interface for monitoring. It's designed for home use rather than an industrial rack, but the honest trade-off for all those chips is heat and noise: eight ASICs generate substantial warmth and require robust cooling, so it's noticeably louder than a Bitaxe or a NerdQaxe++ — the price you pay for maximum open-source hash in one unit.

The economics still land in the same place. Even at ~10-12 TH/s, you're holding a tiny fraction of a network measured in hundreds of exahashes per second, so this remains a lottery ticket and a serious hobby project rather than an investment — it just gives you a somewhat larger (still tiny) slice of the lottery for more power, heat, and noise. Buy the NerdOctaxe Gamma if you specifically want the most open-source hashrate in a single home solo-miner and you can accommodate the extra heat and sound; if you want quieter or more efficient, a NerdQaxe++ or a single Bitaxe Gamma is the better fit.
